Being a student of California Berkley University...

In September of 1896, Jack London entered the university, but he was an only student there for one semester before running out of money.
Shortly after leaving UC Berkley, London followed the Gold Rush and Sailde for the Klondike. By the way, that experience enspired him to write two most famous novels, Call of the Wild and White Fang.
